There was a TV ad depicting a Grand National style event in which, thanks to AV, the horse in third place magically finished first. This was unrealistic on two counts: partly because the example they used was impossible, but mainly because all the horses survived.

“I didn’t realise Milo’s story was going to be about a bereaved boy when I started writing,” Silberberg says. “It was going to be a funny story about a goofy kid, but two chapters in I realised I was in a place I’d not been to for a very long time.”

Toastie Cafe
My plan: a cafe that sells only toasties. All different sorts of fun and interesting toasties (maybe Mozzarella and beetroot? Swiss cheese and butternut squash? Egg, chips and beans?), as well as the good old favourites.

Good idea #548 hits the skids
Last week as we walked home, I announced that I’d like to do some sort of scheme that would be like Mary Queen of Shops (where Mary Portas goes in and saves a struggling shop), but for charity shops. Mary Queen of Charity Shops started on BBC2 last week. I swear, all of the good ideas have been taken.
